FMP finals

These are my final stamps for my FMP, I used the coloured stripes as the single element that was shared amongst them all. This allowed me to easily link them to each other in the stamp set. I like them but I would change them. I would probably attempt to create the same stamp in a different medium, maybe marker pens with water colour to make sharp outlines with some-what rougher fills. My golf stamp didn't work as intended. I didn't really know how I could blend the golf club end with the shaft so it does look a little disjointed. My favourite stamp is definitely the fencer because of the classic pose and my second favourite would be the racing bike stamp with its suggestive strokes that imply the shape of the track the cyclist is riding on.

This is my first idea worked up using illustrator, making the characters intermingle and overlap.

This second design is the second draft which I have added some colour to and also a back ground that has opposing colours to the adjacent shapes.

My second design which I've worked up from a sketch uses perspective and colours that are some-what reminiscent of Japanese designs. The large D in the main portion of the poster is the beginning of the word "design" with the top portion of the E at the bottom of the poster.

My Third design is the diamond themed piece, here i have all the different colour experiments I tried. From this i gathered that with the black text i should use a fairly light coloured theme to give it some contrast and to make the design feel less heavy on the page.

The diamond design alone looks too much like a logo so i added some swirling shapes around it to fill the rest of the page of a portrait poster.

Digital Painting

Another attempt at digital painting, this time i've used overly vibrant colours. I'm struggling to recreate textures similar to that of cliffs, but i feel as though the road has been fairly successful.

My first digital painting.

I utilised 4 point perspective and a graphics tablet to achieve the contrasting visuals. I used no source imagery to help with the creation of the image that I had in my head.

 

This image shows the horizon line, vanishing point and perceptual distortion in blue, which is a line drawing of a sphere enlarged to many times the size of the canvas so as not to make the image look as though it was drawn with a fish eye lens.
